Fire Recovery & Rebuilding
Rebuilding Is More Than a Construction Decision.
After a fire, the questions arrive all at once: what insurance will pay, what rebuilding your home will really cost, what your lender requires, and whether rebuilding is the right decision for your family. We help you answer them in the right order.
What a rebuild decision involves
Six Questions to Answer Before You Rebuild.
Each of these affects the others. Answering them together, early, is the difference between a plan and a series of surprises.
- 01
Insurance proceeds versus actual construction cost
What your policy is likely to fund, compared with a realistic budget to rebuild to current code.
- 02
Reconstruction financing gaps
Where a shortfall may appear, and the realistic ways to close it, from construction loans to phased plans.
- 03
Your mortgage
How your lender handles insurance funds, and what your loan means for your options.
- 04
Architectural & permitting decisions
Rebuild as it was, rebuild differently, or add an ADU. Each changes cost, schedule, and value.
- 05
Rebuild or sell
What rebuilding, selling the lot, or a combination would mean for your finances and your family.
- 06
Construction budgeting & execution
A disciplined budget and documented reporting once you decide to build.

Questions
Common Questions After a Loss.
Southern California experts in rebuilding after a loss.
My claim isn’t settled yet. Is it too early to talk?
Usually not. Understanding realistic rebuilding costs early can help you and your licensed advisors respond to the claim with better information. We do not negotiate the claim itself.
What if insurance doesn’t cover the full cost to rebuild?
That is common, and it is exactly what a funding-gap analysis is for. We size the gap and lay out the realistic options: financing, a revised design, a phased approach, or selling.
Do I have to rebuild with Varsity Construction Group?
No. The analysis stands on its own, and you are free to use any qualified contractor.
Can you help me sell the lot instead?
Yes. Selling as-is is one of the paths we compare. Any brokerage services are provided by an appropriately licensed real estate brokerage, and you may use any agent you choose.
What information should I have ready?
Whatever you have: any estimates, your mortgage statement, and insurance correspondence. Please do not send policy or account numbers through this website.
